Doing Business in India seminar in Inverness
Date:15th June 2017
Venue: Drumossie Hotel, Inverness.
Knowledgeable advice will be available, detailing opportunities for businesses, how they can make the most of these and how to access support to help grow businesses internationally.
India is the world’s fastest growing economy and its government plans to double the size of the economy over the next decade.
In many ways, India is a practical exporting destination for UK businesses: English is widely spoken; and the two countries share a common legal and administrative history, making them compatible. Other factors arising from the new socio-economic order combine to create extremely attractive exporting opportunities.
Speakers on the day include Anju Ranjan , Consul General of India in Edinburgh; Uzair Syed, India Specialist, Scottish Development International; Lucy Butters, Cultural Intelligence Specialist and Pradeep Ramayya, GlobalScot and Chief Executive at AxSys Technology Ltd.
Martin Johnson, head of international trade and inward investment at HIE said: “For exporters, India is one of the most exciting destinations for gaining new international business growth. This event sets out to build a picture of the political, social and economic climate in India, and provide in-depth insights regarding existing and developing business opportunities. I am looking forward to seeing a wide range of businesses from lots of different sectors at the event and encourage people to sign up as soon as they can.”
Speakers from HIE and SDI will also outline the support available to businesses keen to enter overseas markets and explain how to join SDI’s international market visit to India later this year, where businesses can lay the foundations for expanding their exports to India. One-to-one advisory meetings with key speakers can be arranged prior to the event and delegates will be able to take full advantage of networking opportunities with likeminded companies.
Other speakers include Stewart Miller, export adviser for the Highlands and Islands, Carol Harvey, export finance manager, UK Export Finance; and Marylin Kumar, food and drink trade adviser for India, SDI.
